Tori Dunlap is a money expert, the author of Financial Feminist, and the host of the Financial Feminist podcast. Tori and I are both a part of the same women’s podcaster group. I love her, and have learned a lot from the way she helps women approach money—and even more so, from how she approaches the emotions, trauma, triggers, and stories that underlie our relationship to money. Tori is someone who can just really cut through and resonate.

Today, we talk about Tori’s first financial goal, why nothing bad happens when women have more money, and how we can start to shed some of the unhelpful money stories that have been put on us, as well the unhelpful identities we’ve unwittingly been wearing.

If you’ve ever been told, or thought, that you’re bad with money—this episode is for you. If you feel like you need to justify any spend or any earning…this episode is for you. If you currently feel like you have no control over your money…also for you. What else? We also talk about switching from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset, and about something called the ostrich effect. Toward the end of our conversation, Tori offers some advice about not making one incident or mishap your whole identity.
