So first, I'm not quite sure how we've already arrived at the end of the summer. Kids at the school near our house are back in session. I'm recording this the second week of August. It just feels unfair. I though we weren't supposed to go "back" until Labor Day. That said, I can't say that I won't be a little excited to shove my own children out the door, particularly my youngest who gets on these FaceTime calls with his friends and they are just screeching as they play Roblox together or whatever it is of the moment.

I have never heard such a cacophonous racket. It's funny, I was thinking about this the other day, just going back to when I was that age, and I just can't imagine pulling that off, that my parents would have allowed that. I mean, to be fair, I do ask him to pipe down, but there's something about his lack of self-consciousness and the fact that he's not tuned to our preferences that I want to allow for a little bit longer. And this is not to say that I don't expect my kids to absolutely behave when they're around other people. They're not screeching at restaurants or on planes. They're too old for that anyway, but there's a certain behavior standard that I do expect when we are with other people. But I don't know, I've just been thinking about that a lot. It might seem like a small thing, but for whatever reason, I feel like I grew up, and I'm sure many of you guys can relate to this, highly attuned to the energy of the home and other people's moods, and I manage myself accordingly.
