Richard Christiansen is a dear friend of mine. Richard has a new book out coming out, which is likewise very special. It’s called Pleasure Principles: An Almanac from the Garden. The book is, in part, a guide to living with the seasons. It’s also a roadmap to falling more in love with the natural world, and to finding more pleasure in the day-to-day.
We talk about this today, as well as our love of witches.
Richard explains why he thinks we’re living in a crisis of beauty, and what he does about it.
He shares some fun stories about provenance, and the unexpected ways that major creations in our living world came to be.
He also shares the concept of a victory garden, and his take on chasing pleasure.

Well, I get two Richard encounters in one week, which makes this a good week. And I'm going to Australia tomorrow. So this is Richard Christensen celebration over these parts. How are you doing?
