GULP, I messed up. I was typing too fast and I put the wrong date for our quarterly energy bath with Uta Opitz in last week’s newsletter. It will be September 19th, not September 12th, at 10amPT on Zoom. Sorry! This is for paid members of the community—you can find the link to the register at the bottom of this page over here. (I promise, I’ll figure out a more elegant way to do this going forward.)
I would do the 12th, but I will be flying through the sky on my way home from Australia. Australian friends, I’m doing an event at MECCA Bourke Street in Melbourne on September 11th at 6:30pm—come hang!
I’m also doing an event this month with Athena in my hometown of Missoula, Montana on September 27th at 10am at the Missoula Public Library. You can get tickets here.
Okay, speaking of Missoula, I have a very special episode of the podcast this week, because it’s with someone I’ve known for my entire life, who I’ve watched build a spectacular career out of the talents we could all see when we were tots. I highly, highly recommend listening to this conversation rather than skimming the transcript because Chloe is funny, honey. This happened live at Godmother’s in Montecito earlier this Spring before I had surgery to honor Chloe’s gorgeous book, This Must Be the Place. Chloe Redmond Warner is an exceptionally gifted designer, she’s full of fascinating references, and she’s a hoot. You can read more about her and this episode below, but give it a whirl in your ears.
You can also listen to this conversation on Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Chloe and I grew up in Montana together and we go back together every year (that’s her husband Andrew) to LARP around (Live Action Role Play) and pretend we’re cowgirls.
Chloe and I are very dear childhood friends. She is a really talented interior designer and also a hilarious, hilarious person. Chloe wrote a book called This Must Be the Place, which is about how to design a home with personality, but it's also about so much more. It's so interesting and incredibly well done and will make you laugh through and through. And it will also make you think, which is not always what you find in an interior design book. To celebrate the launch of the book, I got to interview Chloe at Godmother's Bookstore in Summerland, which is just outside of Santa Barbara here in California. It's a real gem. Go if you ever find yourself in the area. I though this was a pretty meaty conversation and I loved what Chloe shared during it, so I decided to share it with you too. In just a second, you're going to hear about some of the fun house projects Chloe has done, which have been named things like Little Women on Acid and Snow White on Accutane.
You'll hear why Chloe forced herself to make it through architecture school at Harvard. You'll also learn a bit about her process of making a house feel like a home and about her theory regarding the equalness of art, architecture, and interior design.
As promised, here’s Rob’s playlist from our wedding that Chloe apparently still listens to when she travels: Going to the Sun

ELISE:
This is very exciting for me because Chloe and I grew up together and the fact that we're both sitting here seems wildly improbable. I think you would agree.
CHLOE:
I agree. Yeah.
ELISE:
So let me just tell you a little bit about that. I promise I won't go on for long, but we grew up in Missoula, Montana, and our parents are best friends. And Chloe is my elder. So she has known me my entire life and I probably met her when she was three. I don't know, something like that. And we went to this wildly progressive hippie alternative school that really has turned out some interesting people. I have to say, there must be something in the water. And I learned so much from being Chloe's little shadow of how to put together a layered and interesting and varied bed using Ralph Lauren Sheets. And she taught me many R-rated things as well. And I got my first police citation underneath your wing under your supervision.
